Bruno Moysan, « Les fantaisies de Liszt dans l'espace européen Médiations et synthèse », Études Germaniques, ID : 10670/1.rxthdh
Musically and socio-politically, the first half of the 19th century is a period of major change in the organisation of thought : the logics of organisation between the part and the whole changes from a rational arrangement of complexity – that is seen as a play of forces disciplined by a unique centre or balance of forces – towards systems of non-balance which are polycentric, constantly evolving, tending towards self-organisation. Beyond the simple homology Liszt invented a new way of envisaging musical form in his fantasies on opera themes at a time when 19th century society was obsessed with the modalities of its own organisation. The central question of construction and projection of the heterogeneous is constantly reworked by Liszt as a practitioner of the European space as well as a thinker of politics and musical form.
