Résumé En Fr

"This presentation starts from a specific trait largely documented in Maya sites of the Highlands and the Lowlands as well: ceramic vessels, or simple concentrations of sherds or various objects, put together in caches within construction fills, or deposits above floors, also in other contexts like caves. The quantity of objects can be large or limited, those deposits can be composed of whole vessels or scattered sherds and objects, but the shared parameter is that they are usually found in spaces well-defined by those who executed the rite. In turn, the archaeologist observes sealed contexts in fills, or below ruins. By means of several examples of deposits excavated in several recently developed projects, the study scrutinizes some features of these deposits to interpret them along their time dimension. Furthermore, we suggest that they also have a spatial dimension related to the action of building and abandoning one’s house. The hypothesis is that identifying those deposits would contribute to evaluate the mobility of commoners population in Classic Maya societies. In this perspective we present some preliminary results of the La Joyanca-Tuspan B Project 2012 fieldwork season." (source éditeur)
