Metallurgy developed towards the end of the Neolithic period in the Aegean world, leading to the mastery of new techniques. Witnesses of these changes, metal ornaments called “ring-idols” offer the possibility of observing this innovative type of manufacture for the Aegean populations. The experimental approach presented here aims to reconstruct these technical processes, using rudimentary tools attributed to the 5th millennium B.C. Thanks to the “chaînes opératoires” then identified, the non-linear character of the process is underlined, as well as its complexity.

La métallurgie se développe vers la fin du Néolithique dans le monde égéen, amenant la maîtrise de nouvelles techniques. Témoins de ces changements, des parures en métal nommées « ring-idols » offrent la possibilité d’observer ce type de manufacture novateur pour les populations égéennes. L’approche expérimentale présentée ici se propose de reconstituer ces procédés techniques, à l’aide d’un outillage rudimentaire attribué au 5ème millénaire av. n.è. Grâce aux chaînes opératoires ensuite identifiées, le caractère non linéaire du processus est souligné, ainsi que sa complexité.
