Résumé
Geochemistry was founded almost simultaneously during the first half of the XX th century by V.M. Goldschmidt in Norway-Germany and V.I. Vernadsky in Russia-France. The life of these two prominent scientists is briefly described, as well as the fate of their geochemistries.
