Gino Bandelli, « Le aristocrazie locali della Regio X dalla guerra sociale all'età neroniana. La parte occidentale », Publications de l'École Française de Rome, ID : 10670/1.sn5g7q
The paper is divided into two parts. In the first the objectives of research on the local aristocracies of Regio X are illustrated. After a bibliographic updating for the decade 1981-1991 (§1), follow the net results relating to the specific subject (the first concerning the epigraphical and literary sources, the other the most recent analyses of the phenomenon -Vicetia, Brixia, Cisalpine Republic -[§§ 2-3]), and finally the criteria adopted in the prosopographic cataloguing (§4). The second part, limited to the western sector of Regio X (Brixia, Cremona, Mantua, Verona, Vicetia, Ateste, Patavium, Tridentum, Berua, Feltria), opens with the Addenda et Corrigenda to the prosopographies of the notables of these centres (§5), followed by the preliminary conclusions on the internal dynamics of the ruling classes (preservation or loss of levels of power, mechanisms of ascent of the "genti nove" by the local aristocracy to the ordo equester and to the ordo senatorius), on the economic foundations of their predominance, on some aspects of their ideology (euergetism) (§6). From this analysis the position of absolute importance of Regio X is confirmed (exceeded in Italy only by Regio I).
