Résumé
This article takes a new approach to measuring wage-earner exploitation in a globalized economy. Marx’s notion of “newly created value” is linked to the net value added of national accounting. We take into account changes since Marx, such as the increased role of the state and the salary-based remuneration of senior executives. The scope of our analysis is global, as exploitation has an international dimension. Profits in the dominant countries proceeds partly from abroad, from low-salary countries in particular. The method described is applied to 2018 data for France.
