"Puerto Rican migration has attracted muchempirical research and has been used as an entrypoint into larger theoretical debates in demography,sociology, anthropology, and economics. Here wereview quantitative studies and use the 1990s 5percent PUMS to assess quantitative studies ofPuerto Rican migration. The review suggests:(a) agreement that more educated and highskilledPuerto Ricans have moved to the island;(b) disagreement about the effect of the minimumwage on the island and about the causes andconsequences of circular migration; (c) agreementabout data limitations for the study of Puerto Ricanmigration; and (d) disagreement about definitions"
