Résumé 0

"Verbal morphology: study of the irregularization of novelverbs in spanish children. This research aims to identify some factorswich may esplain the inconsistences found in models and types ofregularization and irregularization of verbs in Spanish. We have generate alist of novel verbs from the phonological manipulaton of twelve verbs wichmake irregular the present simple (six of high and six of lox frequency). Wehave presented this list to 117 experimental subjects (children of secondthrough-six-year primary schools) so that each subject is asked to say thefirst person of the novel verbs (e.g. of tember -tembo or tiembo-). Ourresults seem to indicate: a) the number of irregularization decreases in goingup the academic year, b) the nevel verbs generated starting from verbs ofhigh frequency are emitted as irregular more often that those of lowfrequency, c) the number of irregularizations depends on the proportion ofthe categorial (type) and use (token) frequency. When this proportion is big,the irregular form of the novel verb is adopted with higher probability thanthat of the regular form; for small proportion, it ocurrs the contrary; d) thenumber of irregularizations depend of the phonological similarity betweenthe novel verb and the original verb. The se results have been interpreted bymeans of the processing requirements to adopt the regular and irregular formsof novel verbs or unknown verbs."
