Renaissance books were not just printed texts. As I showed in last year's exhibition 'Decrypting the secrets of rare books', books have far more to offer than just the images and words that were originally printed and sold. The notes and marginal drawings made by readers through the centuries are one of the most obvious sources of extra interest.
