Résumé 0

This article examines the history, size, and content of the collection of manuscripts and printed books gathered by the Tabourot family in the sixteenth century and the beginning of the seventeenth century. The Tabourots were well-known religious and civil officials of Burgundy who also wrote and published books. Jehan Tabourot was the first to collect manuscripts and incunabula in his family, and his heirs never ceased to augment this collection. Among them, Étienne Tabourot (1549-1590) is of particular interest because of his books of Bigarrures that were published many times between 1582 and 1662 which made him famous. All of the 116 books listed at the end of this article show the presence of multiform ex libris that were inscribed by one or several members of the Tabourot family. In some volumes, manuscript annotations can be attributed to Étienne whose attentive reading influenced the composition of his works, Bigarrures, Touches, Apophtegmes and Escraignes. The inventory of this collection describes the remarkable diversity of interests demonstrated by the Tabourots. Now located in several libraries around the world, although mostly found in France (Paris, Troyes, Dijon, Besançon), these books are the remains of a bigger collection that are worthy of better documentation.
