Résumé
There is a general understimation of democracy in traditional Marxism, because of the failure to distinguish between a ruling and a dominant class. The bourgeoisie, while it is the dominant class in capitalism, is not a ruling class in the sense that feudal lords or slave owners were. This distinction is also applied to an analyst of the class nature of Eastern block statism, and of the Asiatic mode of production.
