La « Bibliothèque Henri-Piéron », qui porte officiellement ce nom depuis le 13 mars 1962, est la plus ancienne et la plus importante bibliothèque française consacrée à la psychologie universitaire. Cet article retrace son histoire, depuis ses modestes débuts de bibliothèque de laboratoire (1889) jusqu’à sa désignation par le Ministère de l’Enseignement supérieur, de la Recherche et de l’Innovation comme « bibliothèque délégataire » pour la psychologie, les sciences cognitives et les neurosciences (2017). Bibliothèque de référence depuis l’origine, elle a accompagné les progrès de ces disciplines, notamment grâce à Henri Piéron au sein de l’Institut de psychologie. De nos jours, elle a vocation à animer un réseau documentaire national, en pilotant, dans le cadre du GIS CollEx-Persée, des projets de conservation et de numérisation concertées des collections, mettant en œuvre un programme destiné à renforcer dans les catalogues de l’ESR la visibilité de la production scientifique en psychologie et dans les disciplines connexes.

The “Bibliothèque Henri-Piéron”, which officially bears this name since 13 March 1962, is the oldest and most important French library devoted to academic psychology. This article tells its history, from its modest beginnings as a laboratory library (1889) to its designation by the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation as a “delegated library” for psychology, cognitive science and neuroscience (2017). Considered as a library of note since its beginnings, the “Bibliothèque Henri-Piéron” evolved with these disciplines, notably thanks to the work of Henri Piéron at the Institute of Psychology. Nowadays, its vocation is to pilot, within the framework of the GIS CollEx-Persée, national projects for the conservation and digitisation of collections, and to implement a programme designed to strengthen the visibility of scientific production in psychology and related disciplines through high quality metadata.
