Résumé
The first editor of the “Fount of Knowledge”, Michel Lequien, is also the one who brought this text into the form in which many generations have read and appreciated it. But in which context did he work, and what goals did he pursue? The present talk aims to recall the choices made by the learned Dominican, to discuss his edition of the “Fount of Knowledge” in the light of his work as a polemicist and a Church historian, but also to raise more generally the question of the reception of John of Damascus in Early Modern France.
