Non seulement Calvin donne une place à la loi naturelle, mais celle-ci apparaît comme le versant universel et providentiel de la Loi, l’unique parole de Dieu depuis l’origine jusqu’à la fin du monde. L’article développe alors plusieurs questions : Comment cette loi naturelle est-elle connue ? Quel est son contenu et son rapport à la Loi révélée à Moïse et à l’Évangile ? Quelle est enfin sa fonction à l’intérieur d’une argumentation théologique ?

Calvin and the Law of nature Calvin’s reasoning not only assigns a positive place to natural law, but presents it as the universal and providential aspect of the Law, the one and only word of God from the beginning to the end of the world. Accordingly, the article raises such questions as : how does this natural law become known ? What is its content and its relation to the Law revealed to Moses and the Gospel ? And finally, what is its function within the theological debate ?
