Between precarious contracts and low salaries, it is difficult to be young today. So many, every year, move to the big metropolises, attracted by the promises that only cities like Milan, Bologna or Florence seem to offer. The city is perceived as a springboard for new income opportunities, career opportunities, cultural activities, sociality. Yet, in all Italian metropolises, the cost of rent grows rapidly, eroding more than half of the monthly income.The impossibility of securing a roof over one's head at affordable prices, the absence of a real social lift and the contraction of forms of permanent employment even within the most attractive metropolises lead to the rapid precariousness of young people, seriously undermining their well-being.In response to these critical issues, new forms of housing - collective, cooperative and popular - are rapidly emerging. Focusing mainly on Turin and Milan, this volume aims to describe the emerging contours of a new 'fluid living': flexible and unstructured solutions with their risks and potential.

Entre contrats précaires et bas salaires, il est difficile d'être jeune aujourd'hui. Ils sont donc nombreux, chaque année, à s'installer dans les grandes métropoles, attirés par les promesses que seules des villes comme Milan, Bologne ou Florence semblent offrir. La ville est perçue comme un tremplin pour de nouvelles opportunités de revenus, de carrière, d'activités culturelles, de sociabilité. Pourtant, dans toutes les métropoles italiennes, le coût du loyer augmente rapidement, érodant plus de la moitié du revenu mensuel.L'impossibilité de s'assurer un toit à des prix abordables, l'absence d'un véritable ascenseur social et la contraction des formes d'emploi permanent, même au sein des métropoles les plus attractives, conduisent à une précarisation rapide des jeunes, nuisant gravement à leur bien-être.En réponse à ces enjeux cruciaux, de nouvelles formes d'habitat - collectif, coopératif et populaire - émergent rapidement. En se concentrant principalement sur Turin et Milan, ce volume vise à décrire les contours émergents d'une nouvelle "vie fluide" : des solutions flexibles et non structurées avec leurs risques et leur potentiel.

In tantissimi, ogni anno, si trasferiscono nelle grandi metropoli, attratti dalle promesse che solo città come Milano, Bologna o Firenze sembrano offrire. La città è percepita come trampolino di lancio per nuove opportunità di reddito, opportunità di carriera, attività culturali, socialità. Eppure, in tutte le metropoli italiane il costo dell’affitto cresce rapidamente, arrivando a erodere oltre la metà del reddito mensile.L’impossibilità di assicurarsi un tetto sopra le testa a prezzi accessibili, l’assenza di un vero ascensore sociale e la contrazione di forme di lavoro a tempo indeterminato anche all’interno delle metropoli più attrattive portano a una rapida precarizzazione dei giovani, minando gravemente il loro benessere.In risposta a queste criticità, nuove forme di abitare – collettivo, cooperativo e popolare – stanno rapidamente nascendo. Questo volume, concentrandosi soprattutto su Torino e Milano, si propone di descrivere i contorni emergenti di un nuovo “abitare fluido”: soluzioni flessibili e destrutturate con i loro rischi e le loro potenzialità.
