Patrick Monjou, « Comment prêcher à la fin du Moyen Âge ? Le manuel de vulgarisation de Bernold de Kaisheim (tome 1) », HAL-SHS : histoire des religions, ID : 10670/1.uvjhe9
Themata de tempore et de sanctis were composed at the beginning of the 14th century by Bernold de Kaisheim, monk of the Kaisheim Cistercian abbey in Swabia. This book is a set of one hundred and fifty-three model sermons that systematically refer to a half-century previous theological vulgarization manual, the Compendium theologicae veritatis of the Dominican Hugues Ripelin of Strasbourg. The collection did not allow the preacher to read a sermon already prepared, but gave him the material, a theological as much as scriptural matter, to prepare the one he would have to pronounce. This study contributes to put the author and his work in their historical context ; it endeavors to give the contemporary reader easier access to the text itself ; finally, an overview of the content is proposed in a reading that highlights the main theological contributions of the book.
