"In most of the melon production areas in Mexico have been developed ?technology packages?.These are technical recommendations for farmers including aspects as planting dates, varieties,fertilization, irrigation applications, plagues and diseases control, etc. Technology packages areupdated as new technologies are appearing. In this paper, using information of prices,production costs and yields, economic advantages of using hybrid seeds instead of varieties andplastic mulch instead of traditional system (without plastic) are shown. In both cases yields aresimilar to the replaced systems, but, because of the better harvesting period, farmers are able tosell at higher prices and get higher profits."
