L'homme est mortel, ça se sait. La mort passe par le corps, défini primordialement, à tous égards, comme « corps mortel », à la fois savoir incontestable et troublante opacité. Cette ligne de force traverse avec une acuité croissante le grand âge. S'y oppose une ligne de vie, « élan vital », sous le signe de la libido (énergie sexuelle), éros (la vie même) : « immortelle libido », rompant le « corps-masse » avec sa mosaïque d'éclats, et ouvrant sur le monde multiple avec son holistique du corps-espace – perspective agonique et grandiose pour le grand âge.

MORTAL BODY, IMMORTAL LIBIDO It is well known that man is mortal. Death takes place in the body, which from all aspects is first and foremost defined as the “mortal body”. This is both irrefutable knowledge and puzzling opacity. This powerful line crosses through very old age with increasing sharpness. A life line opposes this, a “vital spring” in the sign of the libido (sexual energy), Eros (life itself) : “immortal libido”, breaking the “body-mass” with its mosaic of fragments, opening on to the multiple world with its body-space holism – an agonising and grandiose perspective for very old age.
