Dans cet article, l’auteur définit les mécanismes essentiels qui se manifestent à l’occasion d’actions artistiques dont le dispositif se trouve au cœur de l’espace social. Cette démarche éclaire les liens qui unissent entre eux les artistes et les travailleurs sociaux. Elle ouvre des perspectives hétérodoxes, mais opérationnelles, qui jouent sur la réalité sociale. Il n’est pas question de ressasser le misérabilisme qui accable les populations stigmatisées des quartiers populaires, mais au contraire d’introduire les spécificités et les compétences dans l’expérience artistique de la « provocation expérimentale ». Cette approche se réfère au breaching ethnométhodologique dont le principe repose sur la rupture momentanée des routines. C’est une façon innovante de révéler les habitudes non questionnées de la vie quotidienne, produites par les comportements pratiques individuels, et qui se cristallisent dans l’arrière-plan moral, culturel et institutionnel de la réalité sociale. Projets artistiques à l’appui, l’article met alors en évidence la fragilité de cette réalité, l’expérience du doute et les enjeux de maîtrise du sens commun qui pèsent sur l’institution.

In this article, the author defines important mechanisms revealed during artistic actions performed in the middle of the social space. This kind of art shows the links between artists and social workers. It opens up, an influence on the social reality by using nonconformist but operational ways. The most important aspect is not to talk again about the same problematic situation of people living in popular neighbourhoods, but rather to introduce the individual specificities and competences of these people in an artistic experience of breaching. This approach came from the ethnomethodological practice and consists of disturbing the social routines. It is a new way to reveal the structure of daily life, produced by acts of individual and stocked in the moral, cultural and institutional background of the social reality. With two recent art projects, this article shows the fragility of this reality, the experience of being in doubt and how the control of common sense is essential for public authority institutions.
