En espagnol, la construction infinitive pronominale se caractérise par l’accord variable (singulier versus pluriel) entre le verbe de perception, le participant perçu et l’infinitif subordonné. Les approches plutôt traditionnelles relient cette variabilité formelle à des lectures très différentes de la construction, à savoir l’interprétation passive (avec accord variable) versus impersonnelle (toujours au singulier). Cet article montre que l’accord variable dans la construction infinitive pronominale est un autre cas de l’accord ad sensum, un phénomène assez étendu en espagnol. L’étude relie l’alternance formelle à une stratégie employée par le locuteur pour mettre au premier plan une conceptualisation particulière du stimulus de perception (le participant perçu ou l’événement entier). Ce principe est lié à la nature particulière de l’acte de perception (perception objectale versus événementielle) et dépend, dans une large mesure, de la modalité (visuelle ou auditive) du verbe de perception.
