Résumé
This article aims to present the origin of the term ego-document and its characteristics. It also considers the problems raised by the use of ego-documents as primary sources for historical research. Through theoretical and methodological considerations, it reviews the author’s use of this type of document in her numerous works on the 1939 Spanish Republican exile, in which ego-documents have been an alternative source or have complemented other sources.
