L’indépendance du Venezuela : une épopée perpétuelle

Cet article retrace le mode de construction de l’imaginaire national héroïque et militaire qui, au Venezuela, apparaît au début du XXIe siècle. Il synthétise un travail de recherche doctorale. La question de départ porte sur l’usage politique de narrations qui caractérisent l’histoire officielle du XIXe siècle. En nous attachant au caractère narratif de l’histoire, nous identifions un ensemble de signes et de symboles qui ont construit cette représentation synthétique, utile et efficace de l’Indépendance. Un récit qui correspond à la version mythifiée du Libertador, Simón Bolívar. Face à la position dominante d’une version unique du passé et à son utilisation politique, d’autres interprétations ont fait jour. Un groupe d’auteurs vénézuéliens, peu connu en dehors des frontières nationales, a constitué un corpus riche qui met en lumière des lectures critiques de l’écriture de l’histoire et du politique. Nous nous retrouvons ainsi avec, d’un côté, un récit national bolivarien, plutôt politique et populaire, de l’autre, une interprétation qui, décodant ce récit, en donne une approche alternative. Le présent article propose une lecture qui se situe au croisement de plusieurs disciplines et questionne certaines catégories telles que Histoire, Héros, Patrie ou encore Guerre, Cause et Indépendance

This article examines how a national historical and military imaginary burst at the beginning of the XXI century in Venezuela. It is a synthesis of my doctoral research work. The starting point is related to the political use of those narratives which played a key role in building the official history of the nineteenth century. In approaching the narrative character of history, we identified a series of signs and symbols that have built this synthetic, useful, and effective representation of independence. It is a narrative that is closely related to the mythologized version of the Liberator, Simón Bolívar. Faced with the dominant position of a unique version of the past and its political use, other interpretations oppose it. A group of Venezuelan authors, little known beyond national borders, constitutes a rich corpus that brings to light critical readings on the writing of history and politics. Thus, on the one hand, we find a Bolivarian national narrative, of a rather political and popular character, and, on the other, an interpretation that, decoding this narrative, offers us separate approaches. This article proposes a reading that is situated at the crossroads of several disciplines and seeks to question certain categories such as History, Heroes, Homeland, or even War, Cause, and Independence.

Este artículo intenta trazar la forma en que un imaginario nacional histórico y militar irrumpe a principios del siglo XXI en Venezuela. Se trata aquí de una síntesis de mi trabajo de investigación doctoral. El cuestionamiento que sirvió como punto de partida se relaciona con el uso político de esas narraciones propias a la historia oficial del siglo XIX. Al acercarnos al carácter narrativo de la historia, identificamos una serie de signos y de símbolos que han construido esta representación sintética, útil y eficaz, de la independencia. Un relato en estrecha relación con la versión mitificada del Libertador, Simón Bolívar. Frente a la posición dominante de una versión única del pasado y a su utilización política, otras interpretaciones le salen al paso. Un grupo de autores venezolanos, poco conocidos más allá de las fronteras nacionales, constituyen un rico corpus que saca a la luz lecturas críticas acerca de la escritura de la historia y de lo político. Nos encontramos así con, por un lado, un relato nacional bolivariano, de carácter más bien político y popular, y, del otro, una interpretación que, decodificando este relato, nos extiende acercamientos alternativos. El presente artículo propone una lectura que se sitúa en el cruce de varias disciplinas y busca cuestionar ciertas categorías tales que Historia, Héroes, Patria o incluso Guerra, Causa e Independencia.
