Freud and the French Psychiatrists of his Day. This article examines the relationship between psychoanalysis and French psychiatrists in Freud’s day and explores the conditions in which the latter’s ideas were received and how this influenced the development of the French psychoanalytic movement, in the light of the resistance shown to the introduction of new scientific ideas.
