Eamonn Cantwell—Yeats scholar, booklover, genial philanthropist—has honoured his alma mater with a great and timely gift, and I count it a privilege and a distinction to have been asked by University College Cork to inaugurate a series of lectures which will annually celebrate that gift. It is no easy thing to assemble a major Yeats collection.
