Résumé 0

"The frequency of self-inflicted injurieswithout suicidal intent as well as the variablesassociated with the risk of displayingthis kind of conduct were assessed in 362women with Anorexia Nervosa (n=130), BulimiaNervosa (n=141) and Binge-eatingdisorder (n=91) attending an out-patientprogram in Bogotá, between June 1997 andJanuary 2005. 82 of the women (22.6%)presented, besides the symptoms of anorexiaor bulimia, skin burning or cutting, headbanging, mutilation of fingers or other bodyparts or several of these conducts simultaneously.12 of the 82 women had AnorexiaNervosa restricting type and 17 had bingeeating/purging type, 38 had Bulimia Nervosaand 17 had Binge-eating disorder. Self-injurywas associated significantly with PosttraumauticStress Disorder (PTSD), borderlinepersonality, Bipolar Disorder (BD) with mixedepisodes and previous suicide attempts. Therisk of PTSD in patients with Eating Disorders(ED) and self-injury is twice of thosewithout self-injury behaviors that complywith BD with mixed episodes, borderlinepersonality and suicide attempts (OR = 2.04;IC 95%: 1.1-3,8). These findings emphasizethe need of applying a systematic andstandardized evaluation of self-injury inpatients with ED and highlight the relevanceof comorbid pathology, including dissociative, mood and impulse control symptoms.Patients with ED and self-injury seem toconstitute a clinical subgroup of greaterseverity in need of a specific therapeuticapproach"
