"This paper points out the difficulties of translating and standardizingseveral tests of verbal and general ability, specific aptitudesand personality inventories. The problems are mainly Iinguistic. Theyindude difficulties in correct translation and varying frequency ofuse in the different languages. A number of examples are given ofresponses to items by normals and psychiatric patients in Argentina.Because of the many problems involved, the suggestion is made thatserious considerations be given to the construction of a new type ofinstrument. References are made to the work of Dunker, Bloom,Píaget and Rimoldi ho emphasize the study of processes rather thanproduces. The methodology presented by Rimoldi appears to be moredevoid of cultural biases and should have greater usefulness in crosscultural studies."
