L’article se concentre sur un chapitre de la thèse d’État de Félix Kreissler, La prise de conscience de la nation autrichienne, dans lequel il affirmait qu’en février 1938 un mouvement patriotique autrichien s’était battu pour l’indépendance de l’Autriche. L’article interroge ce mouvement «patriotique » et l’attitude «patriotique» de la gauche et revient sur l’attraction exercée par les nationaux-socialistes, systématiquement minimisée par l’historiographie autrichienne.
