How do we tell our story? The act of making a story, as well as the act of making a picture, transforms its subject. This essay proposes to explore the transformations inherent to the construction of a figurative pictorial narrative through family portraits. This is structured in a form of analysis of my work process and by a path in the themes and references that echo it. It is a question of thinking about the role of a symbolic visual language in the potential renewal of an imaginary of the identity. This research goes through the questioning of the production of personal and collective myths and symbols.

Comment se raconte-t-on ? La mise en récit comme la mise en image transforme son sujet. Ce mémoire propose d’explorer les transformations propres à la construction d’un récit pictural figuratif à travers des portraits familiaux. Cela s’articule dans une forme d’analyse de mon processus de travail et par un cheminement dans les thèmes et références qui y font écho. Il s’agit de penser le rôle d’un langage visuel symbolique dans le potentiel renouvellement d’un imaginaire de l’identité. Cette recherche passe par le questionnement de la fabrication des mythes et symboles personnelles et collectifs.
