Résumé 0

In his last comic, In the Shadow of No Towers, dedicated to September 11., Art Spiegelman represents himself in front of his drawing board : his intention is to say that he cannot write. This illustration recalls another older one, which stands in Maus. One sees the author, sitting in front of his drawing board assaulted by corpses, in a decor which evokes the concentration camps. The author-cartoonist expresses his doubts, his anguish, the difficulty he encounters to write and to draw. This article states the hypothesis that the autobiographic choice of Spiegelman, his incapacity to write and his stylistic instability have a common origin, an identic cause : an identity crisis, that one can say it is not unrelated to the Holocaust.
