Luca Torrente, « Il pathos del nascosto. Senso e struttura dell’enigma in Eraclito », HAL-SHS : philosophie, ID : 10670/1.x05g64
This paper intends to investigate some aspects of the enigma in Heraclitus. The starting point of my analysis are some initial considerations that are based on Giorgio Colli’s research on archaic Greece. I then try to provide a key to interpret Heraclitus’ production, especially with respect to the role played by the notion of logos. From this, for its holosemantic and intrinsi- cally connective nature of different and distant meanings, I moved to the enigma, as an emblematic example of communication that shows the union of the contradictories. I then provided and discussed the Aristotelian defini- tion of enigma. Later, I went back to Heraclitus and considered in detail the fragments 10, 93 and 56 DK. Finally, the relationship between the theories of Heraclitus and Parmenides has been taken into account: if, on the one hand, the enigmatic logos of Heraclitus holds together the contradictions (the impossible things), on the other, Parmenides imposes with violence the need to make a decision and introduces into the discourse the principle of the excluded third.
