Diego Pescarini, « La concordanza negativa nei dialetti altoitaliani: i dati dell'AIS », HAL-SHS : linguistique, ID : 10670/1.x9zfft
This work elaborates on the analysis of Negative Concord in northern Italo-Romance by focusing on the co-occorrence of adverbial negators (corresponding to it. mica, fr. pas) and other negative words such as indefinites, aspectual adverbs and neither...nor-type coordinators. Whereas negative words can always co-occour, they are often in complementary distribution with negative adverbs expressing clausal negation (cf. fr. *pas personne). This incompatibility, which is subject to cross-linguistic variation, is a poorly understood phenomenon. In this work I review and discard two main accounts: one arguing that said incompatibility results from the syntactic status of the adverbial negator, the other suggesting that the incompatibility depends on the status of the associated negative word.
