Notre attitude vis-à-vis des déments stigmatise notre ambivalence face au vieillissement et à l’altérité. L’approche de ces malades par une clinique pragmatique se réclamant moins d’un savoir intangible et de performances cognitives, que d’une connaissance sensible et attentive fondée sur la pratique d’une relation humaine authentique et consciente est possible. Par ses troubles le sujet dément interpelle certes notre raison, mais par son appartenance à l’humanité il sollicite notre conscience. Il nous rappelle que le sens de l’humain procède d’un acte de création volontaire, issu d’une relation entre prochains. Il récompense parfois nos efforts pour communiquer avec lui en nous faisant les témoins actifs des efforts ultimes dont l’Homme est capable pour s’accomplir et réaliser la paix de l’esprit. La méthode de la validation de Naomi Feil propose des outils de communication avec le malade âgé dément basée sur la qualité d’une écoute bienveillante et non directive. Un exemple clinique permet de mieux comprendre sur quelle réflexion théorique sur le vieillissement humain se base cette méthode.

GREAT AGE AND DISORIENTATION The Alzheimer’s disease represents today an important problem of public health, which reveals our ambivalence in front of ageing and of the otherness. It proved out possible for this disease to develop a pragmatic care based on the communication with demented subjects and oriented to search for new criteria for a better quality of life. Such approach refers less than an intangible knowledge and cognitive performances, than a sensitive and attentive knowledge based on the practice of an authentic and aware human relation. By his mental disorder (confusions) a demented subject call up certainly to our reason, but also as a human being, he seeks our consciousness. He reminds us that the sense of the human being involve a voluntary act of creation, stemming from a relation among fellow men. He rewards sometimes our communication’s efforts with him by making us the active witnesses of the ultimate efforts than a Man is capable to come true and to realize the peace of the spirit. Naomi Feil’s method of validation proposes the use of communication’s tools with old demented patient, based on the quality of listening friendly and not directive. A clinical example allows better understanding of the theoretical reflection of this method based on the human ageing process.
