National memory and international projects in the Centenary of the Great War: a preliminary assessment An interview with the director of the First World War Centenary Commission, a specially-created French organisation that has no real equivalent in other countries. Four main topics are discussed: - The existence (or otherwise) of an international dynamic on the occasion of the centenary - The specificities of the centenary in France - The role of European institutions in the centenary - The main orientations of the centenary in France, and what is missing from it.
