"Global integration has advanced in a vertiginousway, but in an unequal and unbalancedmanner, affecting regions, countries, enterpriseand individuals within the scenario of winnersand losers, concentrating power and marginalizingthe poor.This paper utilizes certain Latin Americanand Mexican socio-economic indicators in orderto demonstrate the contradictions generatedby the present development model, the consequencesof which are reflected in the serious proportionsthat poverty and inequality have acquiredin these countries. More than just a description,we propose a reflection on the challengesto be faced in order to reach this longawaited development."
