Résumé 0

Transition refers to the passage, for young people treated for a cancer occurring during childhood or adolescence, from medical supervision in paediatric medicine to adult medicine. For paediatric onco-haematologists, this moment is mainly determined, from a psychic point of view, by the separation it implies from their patients. We present here the results of a qualitative study conducted with these paediatricians, which highlights the relational, intersubjective and intrapsychic issues related to separation. In these particular hospital services and for these doctors, regularly confronted with cancer-related deaths of children and adolescents, separation appears to be particularly coloured by the experience of these deaths.
