Sylvie Grimm-Hamen, « La poésie sous le signe d'Hermès : Hotels (1995) de Raoul Schrott », Études Germaniques, ID : 10670/1.xq8zk6
Raoul Schrott’s work is marked by Hermes. He distances himself from an orphic poetry tradition that sees the poet as a musician whose song is of a divine inspiration. In doing so, he is moving the stakes of the poetic writing. In the collection of poems called ‘Hotels’, Hermes, the messenger god is associated to Hestia, the household goddess. Both are the allegorical representations of a poetry which, in its form and patterns, is crossed by a tension between mobility and anchorage. In addition they refer to a writer’s position who clearly assumes the devalued status of speech in our communication society, at the same time as trying to build its validity differently.
