La mondialisation libérale pousse à bout la logique de l’échange marchand qui voudrait réduire la vie en société à une poussière d’individus poursuivant leurs intérêts. Au-delà de la protection du travailleur qu’avait obtenue la régulation de type fordiste, l’économie solidaire vise à refonder la démocratie en redonnant la parole et le pouvoir d’agir à tout un chacun (y compris les exclus), en incitant les consommateurs à prendre conscience que ce sont eux désormais qui peuvent mettre en échec un capitalisme mondialisé qui aggrave les inégalités au Nord comme au Sud, un capitalisme culturel qui finit par saper les bases du vivre ensemble. L’économie solidaire en montrant qu’elle est la réponse la plus pertinente et la plus élaborée au nouveau capitalisme peut être le catalyseur d’une grande transformation.

Globalization and Civil and Solidarity-Based EconomyThe globalisation of liberalism pushes to the limits the logic of the free market which seeks to reduce society to nothing more than a collection of individuals pursuing their own self-interests. This form of capitalism is also cultural and eats into the very base of collective life. Renewing local economies is the most effective way to combat this new form of capitalism and to lead to a major transformation of society. Moving beyond the Fordist model of the protection of workers through public national regulation, policies for strengthening local economies have the goal of renewing the democratic process by giving local people the right to speak and the power to act. Particularly consumers are encouraged to become conscious of their collective power facing global capital markets which exacerbate North/South inequalities.
