La marche de la dignité indigène déployée des Chiapas à Mexico du 25 février au 5 avril 2001 a pour objectif majeur de faire entrer dans la Constitution les accords de San Andrès relatifs aux droits et à la culture indigènes, signés en 1995. L’article étudie les modalités de sa préparation, son déroulement, son dénouement et ses résultats, à court et moyen termes. La marche vaut au moins autant, sinon davantage, par l’action qu’elle autorise que par ses résultats concrets.

The March for Indians’ dignity (February 25th-April 5th, 2001). The marche for Indians’ dignity, from the Chiapas to Mexico, begins the 25th of February and ends on the 5th of April 2001. Its main purpose was to press the government to insert the settlement of San Andrès dealing with the rights and the culture of the Indians, ratified in 1995, in the Constitution. This paper analyses the way it was prepared, the way it passed off, its ending and its results, without delay and some time later. The march is, at least, as important and may be more by the mobilization it requires and the politicization it allows than by the concrete results it obtains.
