L’article a pour objet de montrer l’intérêt d’un rapprochement entre Elinor Ostrom et John R. Commons afin de constituer un cadre théorique original permettant de repenser la responsabilité sociale des entreprises (RSE) dans une démarche institutionnaliste, et plus généralement de penser l’entreprise comme espace politique spécifique. Ce cadre se caractérise par une distinction entre trois logiques institutionnelles : outre les orientations marchande et étatique, nous défendons l’idée d’une logique « commune » entendue comme co-construction institutionnelle autonome. La RSE peut dès lors s’analyser comme l’expression de cette dernière logique dans l’entreprise.

Apprehend the firm as a political area: Ostrom with CommonsThe article aims to show the interest of a link between Elinor Ostrom and John R. Commons in order to form a theoretical framework that allows to reconsider corporate social responsibility (CSR) with an institutionnalist approach, and more generally to apprehend the firm as a specific political area. This framework is characterised by a distinction between three institutionnal orientations: apart from the market and the state orientations, we defend the idea of a “common” logic as autonomous institutionnal co-construction. The CSR can therefore be interpreted as the expression of this logic within the firm.
