Laurent Thiong-Kay et al., « Radical Journalism à la française. Between Differentiation and Stigma », HAL-SHS : sciences de l'information, de la communication et des bibliothèques, ID : 10670/1.ypxauv
Focusing on the case of French radical journalists, this chapter has several objectives. After recalling the specific context of repoliticization of the journalistic field in France, under the influence of digital media, it focuses on the conditions that allow for certain journalists to break with the professional ideology of neutrality-objectivity. In a second step, our analysis specifies why this break is partial. Indeed, our interviewees remain attached to the journalistic deontology as the basis of their professional legitimacy. They specify the function of journalism against the competing figures of the ‘automedia’ and the ‘editorialist’ Finally, they are aware that committed and radical journalism is a label or a stigma that can reinforce the mistrust toward them by the political and media elites.
