Daniela Vaj, « Wonderalp : a new digital Wunderkammer for education », Serveur académique Lausannois, ID : 10670/1.yvfjp2
WonderAlp is a digital Cabinet of curiosities that displays objects discovered in the Alps during the early period of exploration. It presents some fascinating images found in Early Modern travel literature. Written and audio documents provide explanations geared toward different audiences. The visitor can roam from one screen to another, select his itinerary, create his favorite lists, read and listen to the explanations. He can also manipulate the images, by comparing or enlarging them, and admire the artistry of their illustrators. WonderAlp is also a valuable teaching tool because it helps explore another history of natural sciences and a bygone form of rationality, one which discovered empiricism and classification, while at the same time finding in the world’s objects a source of inexhaustible wonder.
