To cooperate with the drafting of the heritage protection project of the stone-piled burial groups of the Upper Yalu River Valley in Baishan Municipality, a team composed of researchers from the Jilin Archaeological Research Institute, the Bureau of Heritage Protection and Management of Baishan Municipality, the Cultural Management Institute of Linjiang City and the School of Archaeology of Jilin University carried out archaeological survey and excavation between June and November 2016 on the Pokou Cemetery, one of the major stone-piled burials groups in this region. During this season, seven Koguryo period stone-piled tombs were excavated, and over 50 artefacts were unearthed. This study provides important information for the development of the heritage protection project of the stone-piled burial groups of the Upper Yalu River Valley, as well as for the research on the Koguryo stone-piled burials.
