Invidious nationalism is nationalism without brakes: the love for country it demands is unrestrained, devoid of any kind of universalistic considerations. It appeals to the unconditional patriotic spirit which makes people “walk together, work together, fight together, and die for each other”, to quote the formulation by famous French nationalistic historian Fustel de Coulanges.
