Études théâtrales et Sound Studies. Vers une histoire aurale du théâtre

Cette contribution revient sur le dialogue qui s’est développé depuis dix ans entre des chercheurs en Études théâtrales et des chercheurs en Sound Studies dans le cadre de deux projets successifs. Après avoir rappelé le contexte dans lequel a été élaborée la présente réflexion, précisé ce que j’entends ici par Sound Studies et donné quelques informations sur les Études théâtrales, je montrerai comment la relation intense que les secondes ont entretenue avec les premières a contribué à l’élaboration d’une véritable réécriture de l’histoire du théâtre et comment les théâtrologues ont pu, en s’appuyant sur leur bases disciplinaires propres, opposer des approches critiques au modèle des Sound Students.

This article goes back over the dialogue which has been developping for about ten years between researchers in Theatre Studies and those in Sound Studies within the frame of two successive projects. After recalling the context in which the current reflection has been shaped, clarifying what I mean by Sound Studies and giving some information about Theatre Studies, I will show how the intense relationship the latter have maintained with the former has contributed to the working-out of a genuine rewriting of the history of the theatre and how researchers in Theatre Studies could, through relying on the bases of their own academic discipline, put forward some critical approaches to the model of the Sound Students.
