Die geschichte der pharmazie und der geburtstag der ersten gesellschaft für geschichte der pharmazie. Vor dem XIV. Jahrhundert waren die Geschichte und die Wissenschaft der Medizin und der Pharmazie streng gemischt. Alle Schriften waren Geschenke und Erinnerungen der früheren Zeiten. Darum war die Geschichte der Heilkunde als unhabhändige Kunde unbekannt. Später gaben einige Pratiker vortreffliche Schriften, aber , blieben lange abgesondert. Die "Société d'Histoire de la Pharmacie", welche seinen Sitz in der pharmazeutischen Fakultät von Paris hat, hat in Mai 1963 ihre fünfzig Jahre gefeiert. In der Tat war Sie in 1912 von mir erdacht und am 1. Februar 1913 mit Karl Buchet und Paul Dorveaux gegründet. The history of pharmacy and the fifty years of the French Society for the History of Pharmacy The Society for the History of pharmacy, of which the office is at the Paris Pharmacy Faculty, held its first establishment meeting on February 1st 1913 in the records room of this institution. It solemnly celebrated its fiftieth anniversary on the 24th, 25th and 26th May 1963. For a very long time the history of the art of healing had been mingled wich the practical teaching of this art, the dissertations having all for device « magister dixit » and these masters being Hippocrates, Galen, Mésué, therefore the representatives of another age. In the course of the XlXth century appeared the first dissimilar studies of the history of pharmacy but they emanated from searchers spread all over the world and working separately. About 1900 Doctor Paul Dorveaux, chief librarian of the High School for Pharmacy in Paris, took upon him to start a first connexion by keeping up a regular correspondence with most of them. They were all masters of sciences. On the contrary I was a literary man, having studied the historical instructions at the School of Charters and reached the medical history because too much neglected, up to that time by the professional historians. In consideration of the searches I was making in the school library for documents for my « Two centuries of Press in the service of pharmacy » daily met Dorveaux and suggested to him to organise more intensely the connexion between the searchers of any formation and of all countries by creating a Society owing its own magazine. Charles Buchet, director of the journal « L'Union pharmaceutique » and of the great cooperative drug stores « La Pharmacie Centrale de France », of whom my Father was a very old assistant, made everything easy by taking over the starting and the first printing expenses. The Society for the History of Pharmacy has given birth to a girl, the « Society of the Chemists lovers of books » which has published a fine series of luxury books of a limited printing. It has set up a museum and a Library. As for the modest journal of sixteen pages which in 1913 gave a summary of the first studies it has grown in 1930 into a real magazine well illustrated.
