This book is the first part of a small anthropology of movement, transdisciplinary, transperiodic, and resolutely comparative. The field of investigation is that of the migratory experience in the very moment of displacement, in this "in-between", defined both as the space-time of movement, where anything can happen, where the horizon is indefinitely postponed, and as the relational space, made of mistrust or trust, which is created between migrants and those they meet. On the roads, at the threshold of inhabited places, uncertainty can inspire a sense of adventure, but more often than not it proves to be a source of precariousness.

Ce livre constitue le premier volet d’une petite anthropologie du mouvement, transdisciplinaire, transpériodique, et résolument comparatiste. Le champ de l’enquête est celui du vécu, de l’expérience migratoire dans le moment même du déplacement, dans cet « entre-deux », défini à la fois comme l’espace-temps du mouvement, où tout peut arriver, où l’horizon est indéfiniment reporté, et comme l’espace relationnel, fait de méfiance ou de confiance, qui se crée entre les migrants et ceux qu’ils rencontrent. Sur les chemins, au seuil des lieux habités, l’incertitude peut inspirer à certains le sens de l’aventure, mais se révèle le plus souvent source de précarité.
