Luc Bergmans, « Indicible, insondable, inconsolable. Les rigueurs de l’écriture selon Patricia De Martelaere », Études Germaniques, ID : 10670/1.znneuh
Author and philosopher Patricia De Martelaere claimed not to read the reviews of her work, but practised literary criticism as reflection on the act of writing. Her philosophical considerations of language shed light on her literary work and her poetics. She shared Blanchot’s view on the goal of the writer, which is the expression of nothingness. This view may be clarified through the concept of modus significandi. De Martelaere’s radical criticism of language and mystical attitude towards negation and longing calls up the work of the XIIIth century visionary poetess Hadewijch.
