Résumé 0

"An assessment was made of the hydrodynamicbehavior and organic matterremoval of a fixed bed anaerobicsequencing batch reactor with liquidphasecirculation, containing 0.5cmpolyurethane foam cubes. The hydrodynamicstudy was performed withoutbiomass and with superficial rates ranging from 0.16 to 0.80cm/s, employingcontinuous operation to quantifythe flow behavior in the bed anddiscontinuous operation to quantify mixing time. In the continuous modethe bed showed a piston flow behavior. In the discontinuous operation modethe mixing time obtained in all conditionsmay be considered negligiblewhen compared to the total cycle timeto be employed in the assay with biomass. In the assay regarding organicmatter removal, 8h cycles were employedin sequencing batch mode usinganaerobic biomass. The reactor wasmaintained at 30 ±1ºC, treated glucose-based synthetic wastewater with aconcentration of approximately500mgCOD/L. Reactor performancewas assessed for the condition withoutliquid circulation as well as at a superficialcirculation rate of 0.19cm/s.The reactor presented better performanceand stability for the circulationcondition, achieving efficiencies ashigh as 95% organic matter removal."
