Since the inaugural Session of their Mixed Commission at Patmos-Rhodes (1980) the question of Uniatism was in use among Catholics and Orthodox. The Plenary Meeting in Balamand-Lebanon 1993 handled exclusively this question. It has been taken up again in July 2000 in Emmitsburg-Baltimore (USA) by Pope Francis and Patriarch Cyril of Moscow in their common Declaration which they undersigned during their meeting in Havana (Cuba) on February 12 2016. This Article is a reflection on the actuality as well as the future of this problematic in as far as this Balamand document and the application of its principles is in use in church sociology as well as in practice, by both, the Roman Catholic Church as well as the Orthodox Church. This Document has not given any definitive answer to the many questions brought up by Uniatism.
