Résumé 0

This paper presents the improvements made in the new round of Generations and Gender Survey (GGS; https://www.ggp-i.org/) data collection (since 2020). The GGS is a cross-national longitudinal survey (Europe and beyond) that provides data on a variety of topics including partnerships, fertility, work-life balance, transition to adulthood and later life. The first round of GGS was based on post hoc data harmonization and metadata complied with the DDI-Codebook standard. However, data documentation was time demanding and online data dissemination had some limitations. To improve the quality and efficiency of the data documentation and dissemination, we have implemented new procedures that partially automate the documentation process. The transition to Colectica software has allowed for the automatic detection and documentation of country-specific deviations from the standard GGS questionnaire, which has improved the effectiveness of our documentation process. Further, because this software is compliant with DDI-Lifecycle, we are able to better document methodological and conceptual issues of comparability across countries and waves. The new GGP Colectica Portal aims at being compliant with open science principals, including implementation of CESSDA controlled vocabularies and being harvested by other online data portals. This paper describes the new GGS data documentation procedure and the expected future developments.
